Who We Are

The Lookmai Project is a passionate and compassionate non-profit based in Thailand with a core mission to empower and support transgender sex workers. Founded on advocacy, inclusivity, and respect, our work is dedicated to bringing about positive change in the lives of transgender individuals and Thai society.

Through a multifaceted approach, we offer a range of activities and resources designed to uplift and transform. From captivating fashion campaigns that challenge stereotypes to the creation of informative short films that educate the public on the unique challenges faced by transgender sex workers, we are committed to breaking down barriers.

Our initiatives also extend to vocational training, job placement opportunities, and comprehensive support networks. We believe in providing transgender sex workers with the tools they need to transition into alternative careers should they choose to do so, all while championing their right to be proud of their identity and live with dignity.

Lookmai, a tender word that carries the essence of lace in Thai, weaves a poignant tale of unity. Just as delicate threads intertwine to form lace, our mission is to interlace a community with life-altering vocational possibilities, forging bonds that hold us all together. In every delicate loop and intricate pattern, we see the reflection of our journey – a journey that signifies strength in vulnerability, resilience in the face of adversity.
