DR. Khemmanath Naradech
CO-FOUNDER OF TRANS FOR CAREER THAILAND
As the co-founder of Trans for Career Thailand, I am proud to be part of the Lookmai Project. This innovative initiative delves into uncharted territory by using art to shed light on the challenges faced by Sex Workers in their careers. Our organization has always been committed to supporting all income-generating professions that bring honesty and sustenance to the lives of transgender women. However, it's crucial to acknowledge the persistent issues of gender stigma and discrimination in Thailand.
The landscape of gender remains fraught with complexities, and transgender individuals continue to encounter barriers when seeking employment opportunities across various fields. These challenges are further compounded by the environment and the basic legal rights that often fall short in safeguarding the rights and well-being of transgender women. As a result, the quality of life for Sex Workers remains insufficient, hindering them from working without undue hardships.
The Lookmai Project serves as a powerful medium for us to reflect upon, convey, and address the multifaceted stories, perspectives, and issues within the Sex Worker profession. Our aim is to catalyze positive change, enhance the quality of life, and provide stability for transgender individuals engaged in this profession.
